Register with Better Together Housing (BTH) to access resources, connect with our community, and find, or offer housing solutions

Registration Information

Better Together Housing is a member based online platform where single women over the age of 55 can connect with each other with the intention of sharing a home. The program has been created in response to the rising cost of living and social isolation experienced by many older women living on their own.

We do not provide housing but do provide spaces online and in person where women can meet and build relationships and friendships, and resources to assist people in negotiating a successful tenancy together. Members can then seek housing through the private rental market together, or share existing tenancies or homes.

All registered members have undergone a current National Police check prior to participation in the program to provide peace of mind.

At this stage Better Together Housing is available in the Sunshine Coast and Mackay areas in Queensland.

How to Register

1. Security Document

To join Better Together Housing, you will need EITHER a current National Police Certificate (NPC) OR Blue card. For more information on how to get these documents, please see this page.

2. Register

After you have either a current National Police Certificate (NPC) OR Blue Card, complete the registration form on our website. You will receive an email confirming we have received your registration. This email will include instructions to email your NPC OR Blue Card to us.

3. Notification

You will receive notification via email on the outcome of your application. This may take up to 1 week. If successful we will provide you with details of how to log into the member only site, and directions of what to do next. This is a self-directed program and as a participant you are in control. We will not match you with another person. We believe that you can make those decisions yourself.

4. Survey

When you have successfully registered with BTH as a member, you will be sent an email with a link to a survey. The questions are related to your current circumstances and previous experience. Responses contribute to both the evaluation of the BTH program and a broader research agenda helping understand the unique experience of older women in Queensland. Your participation in the research is warmly invited but does not affect your membership. All information provided is deidentified to protect your privacy.
