First and foremost, I attend these catchups because of Maggie who holds the space with gentleness and compassion, and she addresses the group with immense kindness.
I believe in the importance of women coming together in a safe environment to be able to speak freely about their current situation around the housing crisis. This group provides that safe space and it brings with it a much-needed source of information gathering and sharing which enables me to make informed choices and options relating to finding suitable long-term accommodation. Maggie is very passionate about community connection and is committed to securing sources of support for the benefit of the members of Better Together Housing and I have gained so much knowledge from guest speakers (QCWA, Zonta, Real Estate Agents etc) who have attended these catchups.
I have met women who have the resources to provide accommodation for other women looking for a rental and BTH provides a safe space to allow both sides to meet and engage with the possibility of a positive outcome.
BTH provides a much-needed space for connection, allowing me to feel I am not alone and to give me a sense of hope for my housing future.
