At the end of 2019, QShelter hosted an open forum for anyone interested in having a hosted conversation on the issue of the lack of housing for older women and increasing risk of homelessness for this group. The forum has emerged from the Movers and Shakers group supported by QShelter. Acknowledging that there has been much work already done in this space, the forum will hopefully be the first in a series of conversations that are solution and action focused.
From this first forum, the group came together again and has formed two working parties around key issues identified through the forums. Membership of the working parties is fluid and they work in synergy with each other.
One group has a focus on Policy and Advocacy, the other group has a focus on Housing Design and Solutions.
The groups meet monthly either face to face or via zoom. Anyone interested can contact Hannah @ QShelter on hannahclifford@qshelter.asn.au
