Housing Older Women Movement

We would like to invite you to take part in a survey to understand the housing and financial circumstances of older women in Queensland.
26 Aug 2021

Older women—those aged 55 and over— are the fastest growing cohort of people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. This trend is likely to continue with the ongoing shortage of affordable housing, the ageing population and the significant gap in wealth accumulation between men and women across their lifetimes. The circumstances of older women vary depending on their assets, income and capacity to work. The diversity of women in this cohort require a diversity of responses.

The survey is being conducted by Q Shelter on behalf of Zonta and the Housing Older Women Movement. The data from this survey will assist with the development of financial products (such as shared equity loans) to assist older women on reduced incomes to be supported into home ownership, or other appropriate housing options.

The questions in this survey have been developed to provide a profile of older women in Queensland who are experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness based on their current housing situation, living arrangements, income, and employment status.

The information that you provide will remain confidential and the data will not be shared. The survey results are aggregated for the purposes of analysis.

There is an option for you to provide an email address if you would like to be kept informed of opportunities to participate in further consultation. Your email address will not be shared, and will only be used to contact you about future engagement opportunities.

The survey can be accessed through the following link –

The survey will remain open until Sunday 5th September 2021. If you would like to talk further about the survey or the project, please contact:
